HORMONES & FERTILITY

How do your hormones affect fertility?

Your hormones regulate every stage of your reproductive cycle - from follicle development and ovulation to uterine lining quality and the signals that prepare your body for implantation. Imbalances can be subtle and go undetected without targeted testing, even when fertility is being affected.

Your hormones rise and fall across your cycle

  1. MenstrualDays 1-5Hormones at their lowest
  2. FollicularDays 6-13Estrogen rises
  3. Ovulation~Day 14LH surge
  4. LutealDays 15-28Progesterone peaks
Day 1Day 28

An imbalanced hormonal profile does not mean infertility. Many hormonal concerns are manageable with the right information and support. The Hormone Test gives you an early, detailed baseline to work from.

MICROBIOME & FERTILITY

How does your vaginal microbiome affect fertility?

Get a clear picture of your vaginal ecosystem - and rule out silent infections that standard fertility work-ups often skip - from the comfort of home.
Illustration of an unbalanced vaginal microbiome

Unbalanced microbiome

  • Silent infections that exist without symptoms and can affect pregnancy

  • Recurrent BV or thrush

  • Subpar conditions for conception and pregnancy

  • May adversely influence IVF outcomes

  • Associated with a higher risk of pre-term labour and miscarriage

Balanced microbiome

  • Supports healthy reproductive conditions

  • Improved vaginal environment for conception and pregnancy

  • May support IVF outcomes

  • Fewer recurrent infections

Dr Sami Almusawa, MRCOG

“For patients who have experienced unsuccessful IVF cycles, the Daye Diagnostic Tampon provides a gentle, non-invasive way to assess the vaginal environment. The comprehensiveness of the PCR panel and the reliability of the sample collection make it a valuable part of a thorough fertility work-up.”

Collect your sample at home

For the Hormone Test, if you're menstruating, take the sample on days 2-5 of your menstrual cycle. If your periods are MIA or irregular, take the test on any day. For the Diagnostic Tampon, take the test a few days after your period ends. Ship them individually using the pre-paid mailers you received.

IVF PREP

Preparing for IVF?

Both your hormonal profile and your vaginal microbiome can influence IVF outcomes. Understanding both before treatment starts may help you and your clinic optimise conditions for embryo transfer.

Diagnostic Tampon before IVF

  • Often silent, these infections (Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Mgen, BV) are linked to tubal damage, implantation failure and early miscarriage.

  • A Lactobacillus-dominant microbiome supports implantation - and it is one of the few fertility factors you can influence before transfer.

  • Clear next steps to correct dysbiosis or treat infection before you conceive or transfer.

Hormone Test before IVF

  • A comprehensive hormonal baseline, including the common treatable causes of reduced fertility (thyroid, prolactin, PMOS markers).

  • Ovarian reserve (AMH) - an indicator of how your ovaries may respond in IVF and a useful input for fertility planning.

  • Lifestyle and nutrition recommendations - evidence-based steps to support hormonal health.

Marija Skujina

“We’ve found that patients are far more comfortable using a tampon-based collection method compared to swabs. This has improved adherence and reduced the number of insufficient samples, which ultimately speeds up treatment timelines.”

No - a vaginal microbiome test cannot diagnose infertility. What it can do is identify imbalances in your vaginal microbiome that may be associated with difficulty conceiving, implantation challenges, miscarriage risk, or recurrent infections. We see microbiome testing as one important piece of the fertility picture, alongside hormone testing and clinical fertility care.

Your overall vaginal microbiome composition - your balance of protective Lactobacillus versus disruptive microbes - plus qPCR screening for key organisms linked to imbalance and infection, including the silent infections that standard fertility work-ups often skip.

Many people choose to explore their vaginal microbiome before IVF or embryo transfer, because research suggests a Lactobacillus-rich microbiome may be linked to better implantation and IVF outcomes. It's also one of the few fertility factors you may be able to influence before treatment. Some fertility clinics now include microbiome screening in their care pathways to help patients optimise conditions beforehand.

Your results will be available in 2-3 days after posting your sample. Every result is reviewed by a clinician, and you'll receive a clear, personalised report. The Hormone Test & Fertility Focus Bundle also include a 30-minute consultation with a fertility nurse.
